# Player Islands

Initially, the player has a default island, called the Main Island, which does not have any Artifact slots. Players can **purchase** [**Founder’s Island**](/game/economy-overview/collectible-items/player-islands/founders-islands.md) **from the developers** or other players and replace their Main Island with a Founder’s Island. Founder’s Islands come with a number of Artifact slots that depend on their rarity. Also, the player can place Additional Islands on their Home Archipelago.

Summing up, there are 3 types of islands:

* **Main island** - a default island in the game.
* [**Founder's island**](/game/economy-overview/collectible-items/player-islands/founders-islands.md) - replaces the Main Island. Each account can have only one Founder’s Island active at a time on their Home Archipelago.
* **Additional island** - can be placed in addition to the Main Island. A player can place up to five Additional Islands on their Home Archipelago.

### Islands are categorized by rarity

**Island rarity** determines the maximum rarity of artifacts that can be built on an island.

Initially, players start with a basic island without any artifact slots. Also players can purchase islands of higher rarity from the developers' website or other players on Open Loot.

**Islands of higher rarity have:**

* Increased capacity
* Artifact slots

**Island capacity:**
capacity affects how many building objects, workbenches and other elements can be placed on an island.

**Island comfort:**
this parameter determines how many refineries and workbenches you can place on an island. By default, an island’s comfort is 0 and is not influenced by its rarity or other attributes. Comfort can be increased by placing building objects or decorative items and is used up when you construct or level up any crafting stations.

*The purchased island is the player's property, and they can withdraw it from the game and sell it on the*[ *Open Loot*](https://www.openloot.com/) *marketplace and other platforms.*

### Building objects

**Building objects:** these are walls, floors, windows, doors and other elements that you use for simple construction.\
**Decorative items:** they include various pieces of furniture such as tables, chairs, sofas, cabinets, paintings, carpets, etc. While decorative items help increase the island's Comfort, they do not consume capacity.

### Additional islands

Capacity and artifact slots depend on the size.
