Equippable Collectible Items

The gameโ€™s in-game economy is unique due to the fact that collectible items are not just decorative but also have real in-game value. However, guided by the principles of fair play, we've designed them in a way that wonโ€™t give them a direct advantage in combat or other in-game activities.

Crafting is one of the gameโ€™s core gameplay pillars. Most of the equippable and consumable items in the game can be crafted by the players. Thus, the players have a significant control over the production , availability and distribution of both the core items and collectible items that are used in the core gameplay. Meaning that WorldShards has a true player driven economy.

All the equippable collectibles have a limited and immutable supply, meaning any given type of item will have a fixed number of copies, and that number will never change. Players will always have the ability to trade or sell them whether on Open Loot marketplace or other platforms.

Crafting Collectible Items

To craft equippable collectible items the player will need special islands and artifacts.

Each player has a home archipelago with a default home island and the ability to acquire and add additional new islands to occupy their space. Islands are our version of digital land.

Home Island

Each island has a specific number of artifact slots based on their rarity. These special utility collectibles can be installed near workbenches to open up the possibility to craft equippable collectibles and increase both their rarity and their level.

Artifacts affect three types of workbenches in the game: armor, weapons and tools. Each artifact has a rarity that determines the maximum rarity of the equippable item that can be crafted using this artifact.

Additionally, the game will feature another type of collectible item; the decorative collectible item. These objects are decorative in nature and can be placed in player homes to provide uniqueness and help them express themselves. Beside their aesthetic values these items have actual useful gameplay implications; they do not consume island capacity and provide comfort (a parameter that is crucial for building).

In summary, the game's economy operates as follows:

  • Islands allow the installation of a specific number of artifacts.

  • Artifacts enable the creation and interaction with collectible items.

  • Collectible items are needed by players in order to generate tokens.

  • Tokens are required to increase the rarity, level, and consequently the value of collectible items.
